The Study of Depression in Senior High School Students

     The percentage rate for senior high school students depression rate is about at 37%. Most teens in high school try to hide and undergo their situations. One major causes of depression comes from stress. Stress comes from school, home, work, bills, etc. When your a senior in high school most of these subjects apply to you due to the fact your an young adult. My partner Samantha and I are seniors in high school ourselves. Throughout our project we hope to find what leads students to the depression stage, ways to lower the causes, and to find ways to support seniors with depression with counselors or previous senior students who suffer from the same situations.
     The sort of background we need to focus on mainly is why the Senior class suffer from so much stress leading to depression during their last year in High school. One major possibility we find from Samantha's and I senior class is most seniors are focused on stay in on track to graduate, getting on track for graduation, having to make plans for the college, getting ready to move into the life of a college student. While we have a million things going on for school getting ready for our future we also have many events that happen at home that could either be stressing us out or just putting a toll on us that causes us to build up stress with other million things going on that we are trying to focus on. We know a lot of different situations that depression ends up becoming an impact on our lives as young adults. We need more information on ways that helped get over depression and more statistics for our facts. We need to begin the process of collecting more information and provide that information to our followers on what we collected.
     The one resource book we will be using so far is "Coping with Stress" written by Gwen K. Packard. We will try to find more articles from online written by doctors and researchers. We will try and find another resourceful novel that would be very useful for our topic as well. These would be good guides for us to collect our information from an expert we will interview would most likely be Ms. Conway & also Ms. Saenz. They are experts because they have a degree for counseling and have much experience with seniors in high school and they would better understand situations that they have been in. They would be able to explain what directions they lead them in to help better themselves.
     In the end of our research we ate hoping to show the ways to avoid hitting the depression stage. We don't want anyone to be depressed and not have a solution. We want to find a solution for seniors in high school. Our product will be having videos and counselors listed for these students who are oncoming seniors. We hope in the end we can help benefit them. We don't want them to feel alone.
     Our topic is very viable because we want to help benefit Senior students who are becoming depressed or are depressed. We want to focus on what causes them to be stressed and what we can do to find solutions so its not such a bargin on them.
